The company behind the smash-hit national tour of The Sash are back with an explosive look at the seedy world of debt collection.
An all-star cast led by Jimmy Chisholm and Tam Dean Burn tour Scotland in Autumn 2013.
Scotland’s Rapture Theatre returns to its stages this Autumn with their brand new production of Mike Cullen’s The Collection.
Directed by Rapture’s Artistic Director Michael Emans, The Collection features a blisteringly powerful script by acclaimed Scottish playwright Mike Cullen (Fringe First Award winner Anna Weiss), bought to life by an all-star cast led by Scottish theatre legend and High Road star Jimmy Chisholm, River City bad boy Tam Dean Burn, star of Young Adam and Goodnight Mister Tom Pauline Turner plus acclaimed theatre actor David Tarkenter (Rapture Theatre Company’s Betrayal and Hamlet).
Lawson is the best collector in the business: operating in the seedy world of debt collection, he is at the top of the “profession”. However when one of his clients commits suicide, Lawson’s life is shattered irrevocably. As the mystery deepens around the suicide, the noose tightens, the stakes rise and Lawson and his colleagues are pushed into a deadly power game from which there can only be one winner. Both funny and shocking, this renowned play mixes edge-of-your-seat tension with gallons of Scottish black humour to create an unforgettable night of theatre.
Rapture’s Michael Emans explains “Mike’s script is a profoundly prescient play about debt. What the characters in the play say about debt and being in debt, I can relate to and according to statistics, more of us are in debt then ever before. It’s also a great thriller, very funny and with a top Scottish cast, I can’t wait to bring the show to theatres all over Scotland.”
