When we were performing at the Byre in St Andrew’s we had the magnificient writer of the play Patrick Marber come to see us, and he wasn’t disappointed, he loved the show!

The Byre was founded in 1933 from the humble beginnings of an old cow shed. Located in the university town of St Andrews, the gorgeous playhouse we see today remains committed to being an integral artistic and cultural hub for the local community and beyond.
My parents made the long journey up to St Andrews to watch the show at The Byre. They had a good night with John and Brendan afterwards, both made up to meet Billy Corkhill (we love Brookside in my family because it was my brother's first acting role, aged 11.) It was also at The Byre where I met and had a drink with Patrick Marber himself, who was a hero of mine after reading Closer during my teenage years.

I really enjoyed going to the Byre on Democracy. We used to go on school trips to see shows there from Kirkcaldy, and that is the only time I’ve played there. I remember it was a Saturday night, packed house, went down really well. Had a few family and pals come down from Dundee too. Sad that Sean and Tom are no longer with us.

When touring with Rapture it's always a pleasure to perform at the Byre Theatre in St Andrews. The modern backstage facilities are excellent and the stage and auditorium have an intimate, cosy feel that creates a lovely connection between the actors and the audience and make it a joy to perform in. Add to this a great little restaurant, friendly staff, cafe, bar, art displays and often with live music or comedy after the show when your sipping your post show drinks. It's great little theatre and a vibrant creative gem of a venue, I wish every town had one of these.

Getting There
Parking in St Andrews
There is free on street parking available outside the Byre Theatre. Pay & Display is in operation for parking bays throughout the town centre during the daytime.
Bus
St Andrews bus station has links to all major cities. Check www.stagecoachbus.com for details. Local bus links throughout Fife & Tayside are also frequently available.
Train
The nearest train station to St Andrews is Leuchars, 5 miles outside of St Andrews. The station provides train links to Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee. For further train information please check www.nationalrail.co.uk. There is a taxi rank at Leuchars train station as well as a regular bus service to St Andrews.
